Tequila Calle 23 Anejo
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
Calle 23 is a wonderful product by the likeable Frenchwoman Sophie Decobecq. A French biologist specializing in agave culture. Although Sophie does not own a distillery, she and her team take over an entire distillery several times a year. There they can produce their Calle 23 Tequila with their own agaves and their own yeast culture (before fermentation) for a certain period of time. The agaves come from the Mexican Highlands, Los Altos de Jalisco from an area between Tapatitlan and Arandas. The soils there are very mineral, making for an equally mineral and complex end product. After distillation, this tequila is stored in ex-bourbon casks for 16 months.
Topanito Reposado Tequila
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
Topanito Reposado is a tequila of superior 100% agave quality. In keeping with Mexico’s centuries-old tradition of tequila making, Topanito is made right in the city of Tequila, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
Topanito is produced using traditional, quality-oriented processes such as the so-called “single batch” distillation. After distillation, Topanito Reposado matures in oak barrels for several months, expanding its fine agave notes with aromas of vanilla and forest honey. Topanito is bottled at the distillery to ensure the highest and consistent quality.
Topanito Reposado is an exquisite treat on its own – enjoy it from a cognac snifter or a nosing glass.
Tequila Calle 23 Reposado
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
Matured after 8 months in small bourbon barrels, this full-bodied tequila is visually striking due to its delicate amber color and its nose with its aromas of nuts, caramel and delicate vanilla alongside the typical scent of cooked agave.
Calle 23 was created by Sophie Decobecq, one of the few female tequileras in Mexico in an otherwise traditionally male society. Sophie studied biochemistry and fell in love with tequila and the environment in which it is made from an early age. Since then, her passion has been agave brandy. She finally emigrated to Mexico more than 10 years ago to continue her passion. Calle 23 is made in Zapotlanejo, which is in the eastern highlands of the Agave growing region of the Jalisco Highlands. There, the terroir (the soil conditions) produces particularly fruity and sweet agave, because these agave was selected by Sophie Decobecq to create a special tequila, just Calle 23. The agave grows there between 7 and 10 years.
Casamigos Blanco
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
When the actor George Clooney, together with his friends Randy Gerber and Mike Meldmann, launched the Casamigos brand in 2013 – in English something like “House of Friends” – the Casamigos Blanco also saw the light of day. The Tequila Blanco, a 100% agave tequila, is produced in the Diageo México Operaciones distillery – but originally in the Productos Finos de Agave distillery – in the Mexican state of Jalisco. At the beginning there are only blue weaver agaves grown for seven to nine years in the highlands of Jalisco, whose hearts – so-called pinas – are cooked in stone ovens for 72 hours. The juice obtained is then fermented using a proprietary yeast over a period of 80 hours. It is distilled twice in a copper-coated still. The distillate is allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for up to two months before bottling with an alcohol volume adjusted to 40 percent using water from its own spring.
The smell of Casamigos Blanco turns out to be pure, fresh and sweet at the same time. Delicate tones of citrus, especially lime, as well as notes of green grass and yeast meet pronounced notes of ripe agave, vanilla and toffee. The very well-rounded alcohol is remarkable. In the mouth, the tequila is soft and quite fresh at the beginning. The citrus presence of orange and lemon is followed by the sweet aromas of ripe agave, vanilla and toffee. In the background, the taste also shows traces of grass, yeast and a little pepper. In addition to citrus tones, the rather long and soft aftertaste is also characterized by sweet nuances of ripe agave, vanilla and toffee. A certain creaminess develops noticeably.
Casamigos Reposado
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
The Casamigo (meaning House of Friendship) brand was founded by Rande Gerber, George Clooney and Michael Meldmann. The smooth tequila was primarily produced for personal use, to be shared with family and friends.
The Jalisco highlands in Mexico are considered the most renowned region for agave cultivation. The agaves for the Casamigos come from there. The nutrient-rich red clay soil, high altitude, warm days and cool nights naturally produce sweeter tequilas. The distillery is located at almost 2000 meters altitude. This altitude means that the agaves contain less water, but more sugar and fruitier aromas.
Manufacturing process: Once harvested, the piñas, the heart of the agave, are roasted in traditional brick ovens for 72 hours before undergoing a particularly slow fermentation process that lasts a further 80 hours – almost double the industry standard.
Characteristic: Small batch, ultra premium tequila. Matured for seven months.
Taste: Soft, with light oak aromas and notes of caramel and cocoa. Silky texture.
Finish: Medium to long, soft finish.
Special feature: With the project and bottle number on the label, as well as signed by Clooney and Gerber.

Tequila Calle 23 Blanco
Country: Mexico
Alcohol: 40%
The mixability is particularly high for the Calle 23 Tequila (made from 100% blue agave), both in combination with sweetness and acidity, this tequila easily manages without losing its character. The Calle 23 Blanco is the first choice for tequila purists, but in addition to the typical agave taste there are also hints of apples and pears, especially in the aftertaste and finish. It can be enjoyed pure, but it also plays its trump cards in classic margaritas. Combined with the acidity of lemons or limes, it shows its dominance and so each margarita also retains the typical agave character. The freshness and fruitiness go hand in hand with the character of the agave used.
