Tubi 60
Country: Israel
Alcohol: 40%
TUBI 60 is one of Israel’s most popular drinks. This is the latest cult drink of hipsters, cocktail bars and cafes in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The bitter of the enterprising. Its unique citrus, green spice, ginger, aniseed, mint, saffron, turmeric, Roman cumin, woody, floral, rose extract, resinous taste is very special, and mostly perfect on its own, it is not necessary to mix it with anything, but you can try it anyway. The alcohol content of Tubi 60 is 40%, which is not bad. The drink was created in 2012 by two brothers, Hilal and Yanai Tubi, in their parents’ apartment in Haifa. Of course, this “mixing” sounds simple, but we had to work with it. In any case, they were able to progress quite well, because the drink was already licensed on the market in Israel in 2013. Jerusalem was the first city where in 2014 it was already available in bars. The unique taste and specialty were worth it, because they quickly outgrew the first “plant”, so in 2015 they continued production on a larger scale. Global market expansion began in 2017. At that time, TUBI 60 was among the first to appear in Hungary, the USA, Norway, and Germany. It has only been on the market for a few years, but according to the Israeli press, Tubi 60 is the first Israeli drink that combines regional flavors, spices, and flavors and distillation technique were successfully combined.
The goal of the Tubi brothers’ start-up was that the new drink:
– Be as unique as it is not yet on the market,
– Be easy to consume and should also have a stimulating effect .
It is rumored that the stimulating effect of Tubi 60 is actually caused by khat (Catha edulis ). All of this is hard to believe given the permits, especially the US permit , but who knows? If only because, as Haaretz write, Yemeni immigrants made khat juice and khat leaves fashionable in hipster cafes in Tel Aviv.
